Een van de Farizeërs toont hem de denarius in zijn rechterhand. ' Wie staat er op?' Vraagt hij de Farizeërs. 'De keizer', antwoorden zij. 'Geeft dan de keizer wat van de keizer is en aan God wat van God is', antwoordt Christus. Christus heft hierbij zijn rechterhand op. Rond Christus en de Farizeërs zijn omstanders afgebeeld, links twee lezende figuren. De voorstelling is gebaseerd op de bijbelteksten, Matt. 22:15-22, Marc. 12:13-17 en Luk. 20:20-26. De prent is gemaakt door Rembrandt van Rijn (Holl.
